APIs to Track Coronavirus COVID-19

Over the past two months, as COVID-19 has proliferated, ProgrammableWeb has been tracking APIs that provide access to data related to the pandemic. The World Health Organization now reports that the virus has infected nearly 1,000,000 people across more than 200 countries.


Radar Advances Several Geocoding APIs to General Availability

In February of this year Radar Labs, Inc., a provider of location data infrastructure, announced the private beta release of several new APIs that handle geocoding, search, and distance. These APIs are now being moved into general availability.


ConvertAPI Provides Online File Conversion Via REST API

JSON is Clearly the King of API Data Formats in 2020

A reader recently wrote into ProgrammableWeb asking if we had any recent data on API support of JSON versus XML. We didn’t have the data offhand but a quick query into our API directory could surely provide insight into this question. Additionally, the data may be able to give us some clues into how frequently APIs of different styles are being developed.


CORD-19 Consolidates 45,000 Coronavirus Scholarly articles for Researchers

The Allen Institute for AI has introduced the COVID-19 Open Research Dataset (CORD-19). CORD-19 is a free, open-source database that includes 45,000 scholarly articles about COVID-19 and the coronavirus family of viruses. The goal is to streamline access to this pertinent set of resources to the research community around the world.


AWS Amazon Detective Moves to General Availability

Amazon Web Services has recently announced that the company’s Amazon Detective, a security service that aims to streamline the detection of security vulnerabilities across a customer’s AWS workload, has been transitioned to general availability. The Amazon Detective initial preview was originally announced in December of 2019, alongside several other new security services.


RateSV Announces Metanet API service, MetaSV

Launched in August last year, RateSV is a financial platform on the Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain utilizing big data. Its goal is to provide a convenient and efficient channel for moving data to blockchains, with plans to expand to data sources outside of financials in the future. Currently, however, as the infrastructure and tools of the Metanet protocol are still being built, the RateSV team has limited its product development to tools specific to the Metanet API service. Recently, they launched Metanet API service, MetaSV.
